Thierry Joyeux, a Brest photographer, has scoured Brittany in search of « boat cemeteries », witnesses of the great Breton tradition of fishing.
These old fishing-boats may lie in solitude at the end of a creek, or find eternal rest together on a mound of pebbles, but they all hold a hundred memories of adventure, stories of solidarity between men, of friendships between fishermen, great unforgettable moments all locked in their holds, that only time can distil through the wind and the tides.
Thierry Joyeux’s view through the lens and the creativity of his graphic’s palette have brought out the real joy concealed within these mournful sights, have shown the colour and movement of these hulks which are no longer boats but which are relics of great beauty…
